Email: xiaohuiliu@u.nus.edu
I am Xiaohui Liu (in Chinese, 刘晓慧), currently a Research Fellow in the Department of Economics at the National University of Singapore, working with Provost’s Chair Professor Jungpil Hahn at the Department of Information Systems and Analytics. Prior to this, I was a Research Fellow at the Institute of Operations Research and Analytics (IORA) at NUS.
I received my Ph.D. in May 2026 from the Department of Information Systems and Analytics, School of Computing, at NUS. My Ph.D. advisor is Provost’s Chair Professor Hock-Hai Teo. Before joining the Ph.D. program, I worked as a Research Assistant with Associate Professor Wei Ma in Transportation Engineering at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. I received my Master’s degree from Beihang University and my Bachelor’s degree from Zhengzhou University. Please see my CV here.
My research examines how AI algorithms reshape human decision-making and how they can be redesigned to better support it. I study these questions in the context of digital platforms, including ride-sharing, FinTech, and recommender systems. Methodologically, I draw on my interdisciplinary training to combine large language models, causal machine learning, data mining, econometric analysis, and behavioral experiments.
I am on the job market for 2026-2027.
Research Interests
- Large Language Models (LLMs) for Business Applications
- Causal Inference and Machine Learning
- Algorithm Design for Digital Platforms (Ride-sharing, Fintech, Recommender Systems)
